Chocolate cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 ¾ cups flour 
  •  1 ½ cups sugar
  •  ¾ cup cocoa powder
  •  1 ½ tsp baking powder
  •  1 ½ tsp baking soda 
  • 1 tsp salt 
  • 2 large eggs
  •  1 cup milk
  •  ½ cup oil
  •  2 tsp vanilla 
  • 1 cup boiling water

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour 2 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  3. Add wet ingredients: Add eggs, milk, oil and vanilla to dry ingredients. Mix with a hand mixer or whisk until smooth.
  4. Add boiling water: Pour in boiling water. It’s going to be thin, that’s okay!
  5. Pour into pans: Divide batter evenly between the two pans.
  6. Bake: 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool and frost: Let cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely. Frost with your favorite frosting (chocolate, vanilla or cream cheese works great).
