
Ingredients:
- 1 ¾ cups flour
- 1 ½ cups sugar
- ¾ cup cocoa powder
- 1 ½ tsp baking powder
- 1 ½ tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- ½ cup oil
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup boiling water
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour 2 9-inch round cake pans.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
- Add wet ingredients: Add eggs, milk, oil and vanilla to dry ingredients. Mix with a hand mixer or whisk until smooth.
- Add boiling water: Pour in boiling water. It’s going to be thin, that’s okay!
- Pour into pans: Divide batter evenly between the two pans.
- Bake: 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool and frost: Let cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely. Frost with your favorite frosting (chocolate, vanilla or cream cheese works great).
